GateWeather

Privacy

GateWeather does not use cookies or advertising and has no accounts. Visits are counted with Eurolytics: cookie-free, hosted in the EU, no personal data. Beyond that, the only records are what the web host's servers keep when a page is requested.

What is stored on your device

If you press "Show °F" (or "Show °C"), your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the name wt-unit, so the next page remembers it. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. Without a saved choice, the page picks °F for browsers set to US English and °C otherwise, and saves nothing. Clear your browser's site data to remove it.

The search box on the home page runs in your browser on a list that is part of the page. What you type is not sent anywhere.

What the host records

The site is a set of static files served by the content delivery network Bunny.net (BunnyWay d.o.o., Slovenia, EU). Like any web host, it receives your IP address and the details of each request (page, time, browser type) to deliver the page, and may keep access logs for a limited time for security and operation. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR article 6(1)(f)). TODO: owner to confirm the log settings and retention in the Bunny dashboard, and update this paragraph.

Visit counts

Each page loads a small script from Eurolytics (eurolytics.app, hosted in the EU). It counts the visit: the page, the site you came from, your country and the kind of device. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and keeps no personal data, so we cannot tell one visitor from another or follow anyone across sites. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are used (GDPR article 6(1)(f)).

Fonts, maps and scripts

Fonts, the map and the small script that handles units and search are served from this site. Apart from the visit count above, your browser makes no request to any other company's server when you read these pages.

Who is responsible, and your rights

Controller: TODO: owner's name or company name, address, contact TODO-contact@. Under the GDPR you can ask what is held about you, and ask for correction or deletion; as we hold nothing beyond the host's logs, such a request would go to the host. You can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.dk).

If we later add accounts (for example for a paid plan), this page will be updated before they start.
